Matt Martin

Matt Martin is a shareholder with Addison Law since 2000 and has significant experience in transaction and government agency licensing matters. Mr. Martin has been lead counsel in large multi-site portfolio transactions as well as lead counsel for member groups acquiring or taking over control of club projects. Mr. Martin has extensive experience representing developers in equity conversions and has represented clients in numerous high-profile club transactions. This representation includes drafting and negotiating acquisition documents, development documents, membership documents, and loan documents, as well as performing due diligence reviews. Mr. Martin also has broad experience advising equity member clubs on governance and membership matters.


Mr. Martin is also head of the Firm's Licensing Section. Mr. Martin represents clients obtaining new government agency licenses and permits, renewing existing licenses and permits, and providing advice and counsel on operational issues related to licenses and permits.


Mr. Martin is a frequent speaker at hospitality industry conferences, including, The Golf Industry Show; Golf, Inc.; National Golf Course Owners Association meetings; and Club Managers Association of America meetings. Mr. Martin is also a recurring author for Golf Business magazine and has been quoted on numerous occasions in Golf Digest and the Golf Channel.


Mr. Martin is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys, the National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals, the Real Estate and Environmental and Natural Resources Sections of the State Bar of Texas, and numerous other local organizations. Mr. Martin received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1988 and his Law Degree from Southern Methodist University in 1991.
